    Gideon's Fleece

God confirmed His promise to Gideon with a wet fleece on dry ground and a dry fleece on wet ground.

    Gideon's Fleece

Called to deliver Israel from Midian, Gideon asked for a sign. He laid a fleece on the threshing floor: the first night, the fleece was soaked with dew while the ground stayed dry. The second night, the fleece stayed dry while the ground was wet with dew. By this sign Gideon knew the Lord would save Israel by his hand.

    Spiritual Significance

God patiently confirmed His word to a fearful man. Gideon became one of the great deliverers in the book of Judges and is named among the heroes of faith (Hebrews 11:32).

    Lesson for Today

God is patient with weak faith — but the goal is to move from signs to obedience. Trust His word more than the next confirmation.

The miracle of Gideon's Fleece is recorded in Judges 6:37 (KJV).

Who performed the miracle of Gideon's Fleece?

Scripture records that God carried out this miracle at Ophrah, in the land of Israel. Ultimately the power belonged to God, who alone does wondrous things (Psalm 72:18).
