Ekron in the Bible
The northernmost Philistine city to which the Ark was sent and where Baal-zebub was worshipped.
Ekron was the northernmost of the five major Philistine cities. The Ark of the Covenant was sent there during its troubled stay in Philistine territory. Later, King Ahaziah of Israel sought the healing of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, provoking God's judgment.
