Psalm 91:11 – Meaning & Devotional
"For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."
What This Verse Means
This verse promises angelic guardianship for those who dwell in God's presence. The imagery is of God personally commissioning heavenly beings to watch over His people.
While Satan quoted this verse to tempt Jesus, its proper context is about God's faithful care for those who trust Him — not a license to test God recklessly.
Historical Context
Psalm 91 is a psalm of divine protection, likely written for temple worship. It describes the safety found in intimate relationship with God. Satan's misuse of verse 11 during Jesus' temptation shows how Scripture can be twisted out of context.
How to Apply This Today
Take comfort knowing that God's care extends beyond what you can see. Walk in faith and trust His unseen protection rather than demanding proof of it.
