Why did Mordecai refuse to bow to Haman?
Answer: He feared God more than man
Study note. Esther 3:2-4 (KJV) — Mordecai 'bowed not, nor did him reverence,' for he was a Jew who would not bow to a man as if to God.

What did Mordecai do when he learned of Haman's decree?
Answer: Put on sackcloth and ashes and cried in the city
