What "Why did God test Abraham with Isaac?" Actually Means
In Genesis 22, God commanded Abraham to offer Isaac as a burnt offering on Mount Moriah. This was not because God desired child sacrifice — which He later condemned — but to reveal the depth of Abraham's faith. Abraham obeyed, trusting that God could even raise Isaac from the dead if needed. At the last moment, God provided a ram as a substitute. This event foreshadowed God's own sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, and established Abraham as the ultimate example of faith. The test proved that Abraham feared God and withheld nothing from Him.
