Jesus Himself made explicit claims to divinity that His contemporaries understood perfectly — when He declared, 'Before Abraham was, I am,' they picked up stones to stone Him for blasphemy, recognizing that He appropriated the divine name Yahweh. When Thomas saw the resurrected Christ, he worshipped Him as 'My Lord and my God,' and Jesus accepted this worship rather than correcting him.
