What "How Did God Create Humanity?" Actually Means
The creation of humanity is the crown of God's creative work. Genesis 1:26-27 records, 'God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.' Genesis 2 provides more detail: 'the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul' (Genesis 2:7). God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden, gave him meaningful work, and then declared, 'It is not good that the man should be alone' (Genesis 2:18). He caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, took one of his ribs, and 'made he a woman, and brought her unto the man' (Genesis 2:22). Being made in God's image gives every human being inherent dignity, moral capacity, rationality, and the ability to relate to God. This doctrine is the foundation for the sanctity of life, human rights, and the equality of all people before God.
