Paul commanded, 'In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you' (1 Thessalonians 5:18). This is remarkable — thanksgiving in everything, not just for pleasant things. Psalm 100 calls us to 'Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name' (100:4). Gratitude was central to Israel's worship — multiple feasts celebrated God's provision.
