First Corinthians 15:42-44 describes the transformation: 'It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.' Our resurrected bodies will be like Christ's glorified body: 'Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body' (Philippians 3:21). Jesus' resurrection body was physical — He ate food (Luke 24:42-43), could be touched (John 20:27), yet could also pass through locked doors (John 20:19) and ascend to heaven (Acts 1:9). First Corinthians 15:53 promises, 'This corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.' First John 3:2 adds, 'We shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.' These bodies will be recognizable — we will know each other. They will never age, suffer, or die. The groaning of our present bodies (Romans 8:23) will give way to the glory of our eternal ones.
