Will We Have New Bodies in Heaven — Meaning Explained

Paul addresses this question directly in 1 Corinthians 15:35-58. He compares the natural body to a seed planted in the ground: 'It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body' (v.44). The resurrection body will be imperishable, glorious, powerful, and spiritual — freed from decay, disease, and death. Philippians 3:21 adds that Christ 'shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body.' Jesus' resurrection body provides the model: it was real and physical (He ate fish and could be touched), yet it could pass through walls and appear and disappear (Luke 24:36-43, John 20:19,26). Paul declares, 'this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality' (1 Corinthians 15:53). Our heavenly bodies will be recognizable yet transformed — the same person, gloriously renewed. This is not the destruction of the physical but its redemption — creation restored to what God always intended.
