The Bible uses multiple metaphors for spiritual growth: newborn babies desiring milk (1 Peter 2:2), athletes training (1 Corinthians 9:24-27), farmers sowing and reaping (Galatians 6:7-9), and branches abiding in the vine (John 15:4-5). Peter commands: 'grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ' (2 Peter 3:18).
