Paul described being 'caught up to the third heaven' and hearing 'unspeakable words' (2 Corinthians 12:2-4). John received his Revelation vision. Stephen saw heaven opened before his death (Acts 7:55-56). These are genuine biblical accounts of heavenly experiences. Modern near-death experiences (NDEs) are widely reported, and some align with biblical descriptions. However, Scripture provides important cautions: Satan can disguise himself as 'an angel of light' (2 Corinthians 11:14). Not every supernatural experience is from God (1 John 4:1). The Bible, not personal testimony, is the ultimate authority on the afterlife. Jesus rebuked seeking signs (Matthew 12:39). The rich man in Luke 16 was told that people have 'Moses and the prophets'—Scripture is sufficient. NDEs may be genuine glimpses, but they must be evaluated against biblical truth, not the other way around.
