What "What Happened at the Last Supper?" Actually Means
The Last Supper took place the night before Jesus' crucifixion during the Passover feast. Jesus washed His disciples' feet, demonstrating servant leadership (John 13). He identified Judas as His betrayer. He then took bread, broke it, and said 'this is my body which is given for you' and took the cup saying 'this cup is the new testament in my blood' (Luke 22:19-20), instituting what Christians call communion or the Lord's Supper. He gave the new commandment to love one another (John 13:34), delivered His farewell discourse (John 14-16), and prayed His High Priestly prayer (John 17). The Last Supper was the bridge between the old and new covenants.
