What "How to Serve the Church?" Actually Means
Every believer is gifted (1 Peter 4:10; 1 Corinthians 12). The first step is identifying your gifts — through Scripture study, honest self-examination, the counsel of mature believers, and experimentation. Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12 list many; few Christians know exactly which they have until they try.\n\nCommit to a single local church (Hebrews 10:25). Drifting between churches prevents deep service. Once you have committed, look for the needs — children's ministry, hospitality, music, technology, set-up, prayer, evangelism, visitation. Start with what is needed even if it is not glamorous; faithfulness in small things opens larger doors (Luke 16:10).\n\nSupport the leaders God has placed over you (Hebrews 13:17). Pray for them, encourage them, follow their guidance unless Scripture forbids. Give generously of your time, talent, and money. Galatians 5:13 names the engine: love. Service done for show or for status quickly burns out; service done in love is sustainable for a lifetime.
