New Testament Bible Facts (KJV)

The New Testament contains 27 books, from Matthew to Revelation.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king.

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve.

Peter denied the Lord three times before the cock crew.

1 Peter and 2 Peter — two New Testament letters bear his name.

And his wife Elisabeth… shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God.

And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair.

And his meat was locusts and wild honey.

This is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias.

And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

For Herod… had bound him in prison for Herodias' sake.

The daughter of… Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist.

James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother.

He surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder.

There was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

He saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother!

And the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.

I John… was in the isle that is called Patmos.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus.

Didymus means 'twin' in Greek.

Let us also go, that we may die with him.

Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life.

Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails… I will not believe.

And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them.

Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

They went up into an upper room… Philip, and Thomas.

James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother.

In a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets.

James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother.

He surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder.

Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John… up into an high mountain.

Taketh with him Peter, and James, and John… and began to be sore amazed.

Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven?

Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

Herod the king… killed James the brother of John with the sword.

He was the first of the Twelve apostles to die for the faith (Acts 12).

The book of the generation of Jesus Christ.

There came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.

He went up into a mountain… and taught them.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father…

Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come.

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus.

Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus… sat thus on the well.

Bread of life, light of the world, door, good shepherd, resurrection, way, true vine.

Lazarus, come forth.

He… began to wash the disciples' feet.

The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send.

He said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Luke wrote both his Gospel and Acts to Theophilus.

They were all filled with the Holy Ghost.

Stephen was stoned for his bold witness.

Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes.

The disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Ezekiel was among the captives by the river Chebar when he saw visions of God.

The four faces were of a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle.

The Lord commanded him to eat the roll, and it was in his mouth as honey for sweetness.

The Lord said, 'I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel.'

Ezekiel beheld women sitting weeping for Tammuz at the door of the Lord's house.

God declared that every soul shall bear its own iniquity, ending this proverb.

The prophecy against Tyrus (Tyre) stated it would be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea.

As he prophesied, the bones came together, bone to his bone.

The word of the Lord was directed against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.

The name of the city from that day shall be, 'The Lord is there' (Jehovah-shammah).

The Lord told Jonah to go to Nineveh because their wickedness was come up before Him.

Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.

The king published a decree that both man and beast be covered with sackcloth.

The Lord God prepared a gourd to come up over Jonah to be a shadow over his head.

The Lord noted there were more than six score thousand persons who could not discern their right hand from their left.

Paul writes that the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness.

Paul focused his ministry among them solely on the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Paul uses this agricultural metaphor to show that God alone deserves the glory.

It is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

The church is exhorted to be a new lump, as they are unleavened.

Paul rebuked Peter (Cephas) for withdrawing from the Gentiles.

The scripture declares that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God.

The scripture states a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God.

Paul quotes a prophet saying the Cretians are alway liars and evil beasts.

Aged women are exhorted to be 'teachers of good things'.

God never said this to any angel, for Christ is more excellent than they.

The word is quick, powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword.

Jesus is made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

The high priest went alone once every year, not without blood.

Almost all things are by the law purged with blood.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen.

Without faith it is impossible to please him.

Peter writes to those who have obtained 'like precious faith' through righteousness.

His divine power hath given us all things pertaining to life and godliness.

The sequence is temperance, then patience, then godliness.

Prophecy was delivered as holy men were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Noah is described as a preacher of righteousness and the eighth person saved.

God delivered just Lot, who was vexed by the behavior of the wicked in Sodom.

The proverb describes a dog turning to his own vomit again.

One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.

Peter refers to the writings of 'our beloved brother Paul.'

The scripture saith if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Jesus Christ is our advocate and the propitiation for our sins.

If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

The Father's love allows us to be called the sons of God.

John writes that whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer.

We are told not to love in word or tongue, but in deed and in truth.

The text explicitly states that 'God is love.'

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear.

This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

The KJV specifies the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The elder writes specifically to the elect lady and her children, whom he loves in the truth.

John states the truth dwelleth in us and shall be with us for ever.

He rejoiced greatly that he found of her children walking in truth.

The text says, 'And this is love, that we walk after his commandments.'

Many deceivers enter the world who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.

He warns them to look to themselves so they lose not those things which they have wrought.

The scripture states that he that abideth not in the doctrine of Christ 'hath not God.'

John instructs not to receive such a person into your house, neither bid him God speed.

He that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

John hoped to come and speak face to face, that their joy might be full.

The elder writes 'unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.'

John wishes that Gaius may prosper and be in health, even as his soul prospereth.

John rejoiced when brethren testified of the truth that was in Gaius.

John writes, 'I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.'

The elder commends Gaius, saying 'thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers.'

They went forth 'for his name's sake,' refusing support from the Gentiles.

Diotrephes is rebuked because he 'loveth to have the preeminence among them.'

He not only refuses the brethren but 'forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.'

Demetrius is commended for having a good report of all men.

John preferred to speak 'face to face' rather than continue writing with pen and ink.

Jude identifies himself as the servant of Jesus Christ and the brother of James.

Jude gave all diligence to write of the common salvation before shifting to an exhortation.

The Lord, having saved the people out of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

These angels are reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Sodom and Gomorrha are cited as examples of those suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Michael the archangel contended with the devil regarding Moses' body.

Jude warns of those who ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward.

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of the Lord's coming to execute judgment.

Believers are told to build up themselves on their most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.

The closing doxology praises Him who is able to keep you from falling.

The twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl.

Which sowed good seed in his field.

Matthew wrote the first Gospel, emphasising Jesus as the Messiah and King of the Jews, with extensive references to fulfilled prophecy.

The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Matthew was one of the twelve apostles, called directly by Jesus despite his despised profession.

Publicans were Jews who collected taxes for Rome, often adding their own profit, making them despised as traitors and sinners.

Matthew left a lucrative, despised career to follow Jesus — a powerful testimony that no one is beyond the reach of grace.

Andrew's simple act of bringing his brother Simon to Jesus resulted in Peter's leadership in the early church.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls. (Matthew 13:45)

The pearl represents the kingdom of heaven and the incomparable value of salvation in Christ, worth any sacrifice to obtain. (Matthew 13:45-46)

Selling all that he had represents the complete surrender of everything — possessions, reputation, former life — to gain Christ and His kingdom. (Matthew 13:46)

Both the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Price teach the same truth — the kingdom of heaven is worth any cost, and those who recognize its value joyfully surrender all to obtain it. (Matthew 13:44-46)

Seeking goodly pearls — pearls of beauty and value, representing the search for truth and meaning in life. (Matthew 13:45)

A pearl is formed when an irritant enters an oyster, and the oyster coats it with layers of nacre — a picture of how the church and kingdom come through Christ's suffering and sacrifice. (Matthew 13:45-46)

The parable teaches that obtaining the kingdom requires recognizing its supreme value and being willing to let go of everything else to possess it. (Matthew 13:46)

The merchant went joyfully and sold all — there is no regret when the value of what is gained far exceeds what is surrendered. (Matthew 13:46)
