Numbers 35 Summary
Numbers 35 establishes forty-eight cities for the Levites and designates six of them as cities of refuge — three on each side of the Jordan. Anyone who accidentally killed another person could flee to a city of refuge and receive protection from the avenger of blood until trial.
The cities of refuge beautifully illustrate the gospel: there is a safe place for the guilty to run, and Christ is our ultimate city of refuge where we find protection from the consequences of sin.
