2 Kings 11 records Athaliah's murderous seizure of Judah's throne after her son Ahaziah's death. She killed all the royal heirs — except baby Joash, hidden in the temple by his aunt Jehosheba for six years. Jehoiada the priest then orchestrated a coup, crowning Joash and executing Athaliah.
