Sennacherib of Assyria invades Judah. Hezekiah fortifies Jerusalem, blocks water sources, and delivers a stirring speech: 'With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God.' After Sennacherib's taunting letters, Hezekiah and Isaiah pray, and God sends an angel who destroys 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night.
The chapter also records Hezekiah's illness, recovery, pride over his wealth, and eventual humbling. His reign is one of the most complete portraits of a godly but imperfect leader in Scripture.
