Which Book of the Bible Should I Read Next? — frequently asked questions
What book of the Bible should a beginner read first?
The Gospel of John is the most common recommendation for beginners because it states its purpose plainly in John 20:31 and introduces who Jesus is without assuming Old Testament background.
Should I read the Bible in order?
You can, but many readers start with John, then Genesis, then Psalms and Proverbs, and later work through the whole Bible with a plan. Reading order matters far less than reading consistently.
