What does 'before the LORD' likely mean in Nimrod's description?
Answer: In opposition to the LORD, or in defiance of Him
Study note. The phrase 'a mighty hunter before the LORD' likely carries the sense of defiance or opposition to the LORD, as Nimrod's later building of Babel demonstrates rebellion against God. (Genesis 10:9; 11:4)
