How to Host a Bible Trivia Night (Free Plan & 100+ Questions)
A great Bible trivia night doesn't need slick software or a stage — just a clear format, a host who keeps the pace up, and questions people actually know (with a few stumpers mixed in). Here's the format we've used in churches and small groups, plus 100+ free KJV questions you can print or read off your phone tonight.
1. Pick a format that fits your room
For 8–30 people, teams of 3–5 work best. Smaller than that and one person ends up answering everything; larger and the quiet folks check out.
Plan for 5 rounds of 10 questions, roughly 45–60 minutes total. Mix difficulty so every team scores points in the first round — momentum matters.
Bonus formats that always land: head-to-head 'lightning' round (first to buzz), a 'Who am I?' picture round, and a final 'wager any number of points' question.
2. Five rounds we recommend
Round 1 — Warm-up. Easy KJV questions everyone has heard before. Use our Bible Quiz for Beginners or the Kids quiz.
Round 2 — Old Testament. Pick a deeper book or character.
Round 3 — New Testament. Jesus, the Gospels, or the early church.
Round 4 — 'Who am I?' Read three clues, teams guess the Bible character.
Round 5 — Final wager. One hard question, teams bet 0–10 of their current points.
3. Free printable question packs
Every quiz on Bible Sundays has a printable version with verse references on every answer. Print one per round, hand to your scorekeeper, and go.
4. House rules that prevent arguments
Only the King James Version counts for verse wording. Settle ties with a 'closest to the number' question (How many psalms? How many days of the Flood?).
Phones off during questions, on for the host only. If a team challenges an answer, they read the verse aloud — usually ends the debate.
