How long does John say the truth shall be with those who know it?
Answer: For ever
Study note. John states the truth dwelleth in us and shall be with us for ever.
Lesson 3 · 2 John 1:4 (KJV)
John rejoiced greatly because he found the lady's children doing what?
Answer: Walking in truth
Study note. He rejoiced greatly that he found of her children walking in truth.
Lesson 4 · 2 John 1:6 (KJV)
What is the definition of love according to this epistle?
Answer: That we walk after his commandments
Study note. The text says, 'And this is love, that we walk after his commandments.'
Lesson 5 · 2 John 1:7 (KJV)
What specific false teaching identifies a 'deceiver and an antichrist'?
Answer: Confessing not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh
Study note. Many deceivers enter the world who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.
Lesson 6 · 2 John 1:8 (KJV)
What does John warn the believers to look to themselves for, lest they lose it?
Answer: Those things which we have wrought
Study note. He warns them to look to themselves so they lose not those things which they have wrought.
Lesson 7 · 2 John 1:9 (KJV)
Whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ has not what?
Answer: God
Study note. The scripture states that he that abideth not in the doctrine of Christ 'hath not God.'
Lesson 8 · 2 John 1:10 (KJV)
If someone comes and brings not the doctrine of Christ, what should a believer NOT do?
Answer: Receive him into their house
Study note. John instructs not to receive such a person into your house, neither bid him God speed.
Lesson 9 · 2 John 1:11 (KJV)
What happens to a person who bids 'God speed' to one who brings false doctrine?
Answer: He is a partaker of his evil deeds
Study note. He that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
Lesson 10 · 2 John 1:12 (KJV)
Why did John choose not to write more things with paper and ink?
Answer: He trusted to come unto them and speak face to face
Study note. John hoped to come and speak face to face, that their joy might be full.
