Who Was Timothy in the Bible — Meaning Explained

Timothy was one of Paul's most trusted companions and spiritual sons. He was from Lystra, the son of a Jewish mother (Eunice) and a Greek father. His grandmother Lois and mother had instilled genuine faith in him from childhood. Paul selected Timothy to join his missionary team and later entrusted him with leading the church at Ephesus. Despite his youth and apparently timid temperament, Paul encouraged Timothy to be bold, to guard sound doctrine, and to be an example to believers in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
