What "Who Was the Apostle Peter?" Actually Means
Simon Peter was outspoken, impulsive, and deeply devoted to Jesus. He was the first to confess Jesus as the Christ (Matthew 16:16) but also denied knowing Him three times during the trial. After the resurrection, Jesus restored Peter, asking three times 'Do you love me?' Peter became the church's leading voice at Pentecost and beyond. He wrote two epistles and, according to tradition, was martyred by crucifixion upside down in Rome.
