What "Who Was Jeremiah?" Actually Means
God called Jeremiah before birth and appointed him as prophet to the nations (Jeremiah 1:5). He preached repentance for 40 years to Judah, enduring rejection, imprisonment, and threats on his life. He wept over Jerusalem's coming destruction. Despite the dark messages, Jeremiah also delivered some of Scripture's greatest promises — the New Covenant (31:31-34) and God's plans for hope and a future (29:11). He is called the weeping prophet for his deep compassion.
