Elijah ministered during the reign of wicked King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, who promoted Baal worship in Israel. His most dramatic moment was the contest on Mount Carmel, where he challenged 450 prophets of Baal. God answered Elijah's prayer with fire from heaven, consuming the sacrifice and proving He alone was God. Elijah was fed by ravens during a drought, raised a widow's son from the dead, and eventually was taken to heaven in a whirlwind with a chariot of fire.
