Who Was Abel in the Bible — Meaning Explained

Abel's brief life holds profound theological significance despite his few recorded words. As the second son of Adam and Eve, Abel chose the occupation of keeping sheep while his older brother Cain tilled the ground. When both brought offerings to the Lord, Abel brought 'of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof' — the best of what he had — while Cain brought an ordinary offering from the ground.
