What "What Is the Davidic Covenant?" Actually Means
In 2 Samuel 7:12-16, God promised David that his descendant would establish an eternal kingdom. This covenant was unconditional—God declared 'I will' repeatedly without conditions. While Solomon partially fulfilled it by building the temple, the ultimate fulfillment is in Jesus Christ, who is called 'the Son of David' and whose kingdom will have no end (Luke 1:32-33). The angel Gabriel confirmed this to Mary at the Annunciation. This covenant connects the Old and New Testaments, showing God's faithfulness across generations and His plan for an eternal King.
