What "What Is Armageddon?" Actually Means

The word 'Armageddon' appears only once in Scripture, in Revelation 16:16, where the kings of the earth are gathered 'into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.' The name likely refers to the region around the hill of Megiddo, a plain in northern Israel that has witnessed many decisive battles throughout history. At the end of the great tribulation, the armies of the world, deceived by demonic spirits, will assemble there to make war against the Lamb. The battle is no contest. Christ returns from heaven on a white horse, accompanied by His armies, and destroys His enemies 'with the brightness of his coming' (2 Thessalonians 2:8). The blood will flow to the bridles of the horses. Armageddon ushers in the binding of Satan and the establishment of Christ's kingdom on earth.
