What "What Happened at the Battle of Jericho?" Actually Means
Joshua 6 records one of the most remarkable military victories in Scripture. Jericho was a fortified city blocking Israel's entry into Canaan. God gave Joshua unusual battle instructions: march around the city once daily for six days with priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant and blowing trumpets. On the seventh day, march seven times, then have the people shout. When they obeyed, 'the wall fell down flat' (Joshua 6:20). The city was taken and devoted to the Lord. Only Rahab and her family were spared because she had hidden the Israelite spies. The battle demonstrates that Israel's victories came from obedience to God, not military might.
