What "How Should Christians Fulfill the Great Commission Today?" Actually Means
The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) is not optional: 'Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.' The command rests on Christ's authority: 'All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth' (v.18). Acts 1:8 maps the strategy: 'Ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.' Every believer has a sphere of influence — family, workplace, community, and beyond. Fulfilling the commission involves personal evangelism, supporting missions, praying for the unreached, discipling new believers, and planting churches. Paul asked, 'How shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?' (Romans 10:14). The promise accompanies the command: 'Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world' (Matthew 28:20). The task remains unfinished — billions have never heard the gospel.
