Does God Still Heal Today — In Biblical Context

The Biblical Context

James 5:14-15 instructs, 'Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up.' Jesus healed multitudes during His ministry, demonstrating God's compassion and power. He commissioned the apostles to heal (Matthew 10:8), and the early church experienced miraculous healings (Acts 3:6-8, 5:15-16). However, not everyone was healed — Paul's thorn remained (2 Corinthians 12:7-9), Trophimus was left sick at Miletus (2 Timothy 4:20), and Timothy had chronic stomach problems (1 Timothy 5:23). God's ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). Healing belongs to God's sovereign will, not human demand. The ultimate healing — resurrection — is guaranteed for every believer (1 Corinthians 15:42-44). Until then, God sometimes heals supernaturally, sometimes through medical means, and sometimes sustains through suffering with sufficient grace (2 Corinthians 12:9).
