The early church modeled vibrant fellowship: 'they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers' (Acts 2:42). They shared possessions, ate together 'with gladness and singleness of heart' (Acts 2:46), and 'had all things common' (Acts 4:32). Hebrews 10:24-25 commands, 'let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together.' Paul uses the body metaphor extensively — 'we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another' (Romans 12:5). Galatians 6:2 instructs, 'Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.' The 'one another' commands number over 50 in the New Testament: love, forgive, serve, encourage, admonish, pray for, and be kind to one another.
