What "What Does the Bible Say About Angels?" Actually Means
Angels are mentioned nearly 300 times in the Bible. They are created beings (Colossians 1:16), not evolved humans or ghosts of the departed. They are spirit beings (Hebrews 1:14) who can sometimes take physical form (Genesis 18:1-2, Hebrews 13:2). The Bible names two angels specifically: Michael the archangel (Jude 1:9, Daniel 10:13) and Gabriel (Luke 1:19, 26). Angels serve multiple functions: they worship God (Isaiah 6:1-3, Revelation 4:8), deliver messages (Luke 1:26-38, Matthew 1:20), protect believers (Psalm 91:11-12, Acts 12:7-10), execute judgment (2 Kings 19:35, Acts 12:23), and minister to saints (Hebrews 1:14). Jesus said children have guardian angels who always see the Father's face (Matthew 18:10). Angels rejoice when a sinner repents (Luke 15:10). They are not to be worshipped (Colossians 2:18, Revelation 22:8-9). Some angels rebelled with Satan and became demons (Revelation 12:4, 2 Peter 2:4). The faithful angels remain powerful servants of God, actively involved in the lives of believers today.
