What "What Does the Bible Say About Peace?" Actually Means
Scripture addresses three dimensions of peace. First, peace with God—through faith, believers are reconciled to God (Romans 5:1). Second, the peace of God—an inner tranquility that guards hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7). Third, peace with others—believers are called to 'live peaceably with all men' (Romans 12:18) and are blessed as peacemakers (Matthew 5:9). Jesus is the 'Prince of Peace' (Isaiah 9:6) and told His disciples: 'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth' (John 14:27). God's peace 'passeth all understanding' because it defies circumstance. Isaiah promises: 'Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee' (Isaiah 26:3).
