What "Do Children Go to Heaven When They Die?" Actually Means
This is one of the most sensitive questions in theology. While Scripture doesn't provide an explicit answer, several passages offer hope. David said of his deceased infant son: 'I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me' (2 Samuel 12:23), expressing confidence in reunion. Jesus said the kingdom of heaven belongs to 'such as these' children (Matthew 19:14). God's character as a just and merciful Judge (Genesis 18:25) assures us He will do right. Many theologians hold to an 'age of accountability'—a point before which children cannot truly reject God's offer of salvation and are therefore covered by Christ's atonement. The overwhelming testimony of Scripture is that God is loving, just, and compassionate toward the vulnerable.
