What "How to Pray for Others (Intercession)?" Actually Means
Intercession is one of the highest privileges of the Christian life. Christ Himself ever lives to intercede for us (Hebrews 7:25), and we are invited to share that ministry. 1 Timothy 2:1 places intercession first in the order of prayer — even before personal supplication.\n\nPray specifically. Vague prayers receive vague answers. Pray Scripture for people — Paul's prayers in Ephesians 1, Philippians 1, and Colossians 1 are excellent templates. Pray for salvation of the lost (1 Timothy 2:4), for fellow believers' growth (Colossians 1:9–12), for leaders (1 Timothy 2:2), and for those who persecute (Matthew 5:44).\n\nBe consistent. Keep a list. Rotate names through the week so each is prayed for regularly. Watch for answers and record them. James 5:16 promises that fervent intercession 'availeth much' — God ordained prayer as a real means by which His will is accomplished on earth.
