Jacob's Ladder — Angels Ascending and Descending
At Bethel, Jacob saw a ladder reaching to heaven with angels ascending and descending — a vision Jesus later applied to Himself.
Fleeing from Esau, Jacob laid his head on a stone and dreamed of a ladder set on the earth with its top reaching heaven, 'and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it' (Genesis 28:12). The Lord stood above and renewed His covenant. Jesus later told Nathanael, 'Ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man' (John 1:51) — identifying Himself as the true ladder.
