Gabriel the Messenger
Gabriel is God's messenger angel, sent to deliver major prophetic announcements in both testaments.
Gabriel appears four times in Scripture, always as the bearer of pivotal news. He interprets Daniel's visions of the end times, announces the birth of John the Baptist to Zacharias, and tells Mary she will bear the Son of God. Luke 1:19 records his own words: 'I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God.'

Is Gabriel an archangel?
Scripture never calls Gabriel an archangel — only Michael receives that title (Jude 1:9). Gabriel is described as one who 'stands in the presence of God' (Luke 1:19), a position of great honor.
Did Gabriel give Muhammad the Quran?
Islamic tradition claims this, but the Bible records Gabriel's mission as confirming Christ — the very opposite of denying His deity. The biblical Gabriel and the Quranic claim point in opposite directions.
