Nehemiah 12 Summary
The chapter lists the priests and Levites who served from the return under Zerubbabel to Nehemiah's time. It culminates in the joyful dedication of Jerusalem's wall with two great processions marching in opposite directions around the city, meeting at the Temple with singing so loud it could be heard from far away.
The wall dedication celebration was the climax of Nehemiah's work. Two choirs walking the wall in opposite directions symbolically consecrated every section. The joy was so great that it became a testimony to surrounding nations.
