“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”— 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)
When Samuel came to anoint the next king, he was impressed by Eliab's tall, kingly appearance. But God corrected him: external qualities don't determine value in God's kingdom. God evaluates the heart — motives, character, devotion — not the resume.
Prayer: Lord, search my heart and help me value what You value. Free me from the tyranny of appearances and human approval. Shape my inner life to reflect Your character, even if no one else notices. Amen.
